OUR MISSION

Founded upon the premise of making dance fun for all ages, our studio doors opened seventeen years ago, under the name of Terrific Time Dance Studio.  Now, we are excited to serve you as Amherst Dance Academy!  A new name, but our foundation is the same.  We believe that dance is not just about competition, stage performance, and technique.  Dance is more powerful than that.  Don't get us wrong, though, we support and participate in competitions, performances, and dance recitals; and much of our class time is spent learning correct technique.  However, our main focus is making sure that the dancers learn to love dancing!  That means creating an environment that is positive and energetic.  We believe that each dancer should be given the opportunity to achieve something incredible, and this becomes possible when the environment reflects that the sky is the limit!

OUR GOAL

At Amherst Dance Academy, our goal is to provide dance education, miscellaneous dancewear, and personal growth opportunities at a competitive and affordable price.  We take pride in being able to offer our dancers more than what they would find at other studios.  We also take very seriously the environment and education your dancer receives.  Our goal is to provide a challenging, positive, and fun environment that is influential in the lives of our dancers as we teach and build in your dancer proper dance technique, respect, discipline, and self-esteem.  We believe even difficult things can be achieved when the bar is set high and and the door of opportunity is left wide open for the dancer to walk through it.

Christmas Parades!  Join us this year!

Parades, candy canes, lights, music, and snow fill our lives with fun and excitement as the holiday season

approaches. We love this time of year to celebrate with dancers and their families in the festivities and in the joy of the season.  This year we will be participating in three parades:

1) Appomattox parade on December    2 at 3:00 pm.

2) Amherst Lions Christmas Parade on Friday, December 1 at 6:30pm.

3) Lovingston Parade on Saturday, December 9 at 6:00 pm.

All dancers currently dancing at the studio ages 6 and above are eligible to dance in the parade.  Dancers interested in performing in the parade will need to attend at least one extra class ($15) at the dance studio to learn the parade choreography and will also dance in both the Amherst and Nelson parades.

Due to choreography requirements for the parade, it is mandatory for dancers to perform in both parades if they wish to participate.  Dancers are not required to purchase ADA retail items to perform in the parade, but we do ask for dancers to wear studio colors: red, black, and white.

Dancers under the age of 6 are certainly welcome to join in the fun also! Young dancers and their families may ride the float. The float will have limited space, but we can usually offer about twenty seats. Please sign up for this in advance.

Dancers must sign up by November 3.

Riding the float? Reserve your seat ASAP! We have approximately 25 seats to fill. There Is no charge, but they do fill quickly for the parades.

Parade Rehearsals will be held the following days and times:

Tuesday, November 21  6:00pm - 7:00pm

Wednesday, November 29 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Sign up for the parades here!
